Taylor + Tyler | Garrard Wedding | Owensboro, KY | November 12th, 2022

February 1, 2023

“I trust you.”

Those were the first words out of Taylor’s mouth as I reassured her that the incoming weather would only make her outdoor wedding more memorable. She was calm. Ready. So in love.

Tyler and Taylor planned their ceremony and reception on family property as a celebration with their closest loved ones around. Tyler’s parents opened their home to guests and vendors alike – ready for an incredible wedding weekend. At the rehearsal, the couple said their vows in front of the wedding party and family. It was intimate, private, and beautiful. As we celebrated and prepared for the next day… a windy winter storm made its entrance.

We woke up to big fluffy snowflakes drifting to the ground. Cold?…. ABSOLUTELY. I was prepared for Taylor and Tyler to feel out of sorts but when I arrived it was as if they’d actually hoped for snow. Family, friends and vendors rallied together to make sure the couple didn’t have to worry about a thing. We all had our roles and jobs assigned from putting out flowers right before the ceremony to putting blankets in a basket for guests to bundle up.

As a photographer I started to question how I was going to accomplish what the newlyweds deserved. There were SO many things in the weeks leading up to their wedding that almost caused them to throw in the towel. They needed this. After the ceremony, we were warming up inside the house before the reception. I was getting my gear ready to go back outside and I heard Taylor asking her Dad to help her find her boots. She sat down, put on her snow boots and asked if they could go take snow portraits.

She wasn’t worried about the dress getting dirty.
She wasn’t worried about the cold.
She knew that my favorite part of the day would also be hers and she wasn’t going to miss it. The few moments after the ceremony that the couple just gets to be… together.

Taylor and Tyler played in the snow and I simply took photos of it.

To the Garrards:
My heart needed to be with you all on your wedding day and I am so grateful that you felt that way too. Sometimes there are things that happen that reassure you you’re right where you need to be. Your wedding weekend was that for me.
Thank you for trusting me fully with your photographs. I didn’t feel like a professional who you couldn’t relax around. I felt like a friend that had happened to have a camera on them. 📷
Love you both dearly.

XOXO
